Meet Anita

This Little Universe (TLU) is full of surprises — as a multimedia artist, I love exploring different forms of expression. In a society where we are encouraged to "find our niche" and squish ourselves into some stifling nook or cranny in the global assembly line, I instead choose adventure, whimsy, and magic.

What began as a side project to escape the matrix has evolved into a larger vision: TLU seeks to inspire others to show up in whatever small ways they can to support humanity during this intense period of rebirth. Through my art and other offerings, I strive to remind others (and myself) to take the time to love, gaze at the moon, laugh, breathe, and create. I'm on a mission to serve my highest medicine using the gifts my ancestors gave me.

I believe a business is only as good as the impact it brings to the world, so I have pledged 10% of profits to mutual aid and planet conservation efforts, year-round. I'm also a certified breathwork instructor and will soon be offering donation-based events to guide people on their personal journeys towards inner peace and resilience.

Why This Little Universe?

"We are, each of us, a little universe." We're human beings. A universe exists inside each of us. We're complex, beautiful, messy, and real.

Plus, I love the idea of the multiverse — the notion that our own universe, as grand, vast, and incomprehensible as it may seem, may well just be another tiny universe nestled within an infinite network of universes.

We're not meant to live in a box. I don't want to find an ultra-tight niche, no matter how many business gurus and coaches tell me it's the only way to run a business.

I believe that when I serve the world in my highest purpose, TLU will flourish. As a multimedia artist/multi-hyphenate/polymath/mani-gen creatrix (can't even choose one label, let alone one niche) I wanted the name of my business to reflect the diverse range of products and services you're sure to find over the years.

Intentionality

We get to be here on this planet. Yes, there are many things that suck about it. Our loved ones are struggling and the vibes are off, to say the least (fascism will do that).

Time is of the essence, and energy is precious. That's why in every interaction, product listing, and event, we bring intention to every aspect.

What is intention? Put simply, it's having forethought and unbreakable focus regarding the purpose behind our actions. Anyone can say their purpose is making the world a better place, but we strive to embody it. That's why we do crazy things that would stress out any CEO in 2025, like No-Profit November — when we give 100% of our profits to mutual aid during the busiest shopping month of the year.

To be human on this Earth and have the ability to explore deeper levels of consciousness is such a gift, and we are taking full advantage of that conscious choice to act with clear vision and do whatever we can to make the world a better place. Intention or bust!

Expansion

Movement is life. Growth is life. To remain stagnant is to choose death.

OKKKK so it's a little dramatic. But change is the only constant in life. Even when you are completely still, your atoms continue to vibrate. And isn't that so fkn beautiful?!

We believe in pushing boundaries — especially the limits of our repressed, individualistic society. Especially the limits we've constructed in our minds that keep us living in autopilot in a prison of our own design.

Time to expand our minds. Our realities. Our awareness. Our inner universe. Our collective frequency as energetic beings. So that we can EVOLVE and step into this incredible new world we'll build together.

Creativity

Creativity is humanity's life force. To create is to be human.

Our ancestors painted mud figures on cave walls and danced around the fire, telling stories by starlight. We must remember the deep creative spirit that still exists in each and every one of us. We are ALL Creators.

We do NOT use generative AI for any of our designs, copywriting, social media, etc. Our own human brains do the job just fine, thank you.

Regeneration

It's not enough to be sustainable anymore. In today's climate, we need to go one step further and prioritize regenerative practices.

The difference between sustainability and regeneration is that sustainability keeps things at its current level, while regeneration actively makes things better.

We bring regeneration principles to our business operations (with more on the horizon):

  • Investing our profits into mutual aid and planet-conservation efforts, thereby improving the planet and the lives of people who live here
  • Offering somatic breathwork events to help people process suppressed emotions, break free of conditioning and bring their unique gifts to the world

I believe that we need to protect this little corner of the universe we call home (because uh...we live here ??). From the raw materials to the production partners I work with, I always make decisions with our precious planet's wellbeing in mind. I also allocate a portion of profits support mutual aid and planet conservation efforts.

It's so important to me to have a solid ethical code for running my business. In the early days of running my business, I fell prey to opportunistic business coaches selling crappy advice — manipulative marketing, outsourcing, and so on. NO THANK YOU!!

I don't use any manipulative marketing tactics. I myself am unlearning consumerism and choosing to bring items into my life intentionally, knowing that every single thing created is of the blood and bones of Mother Earth. That's why I'm suuuuper against dysregulating people into a buying frenzy. Not a good look, e-commerce bros & girlbosses.

When you purchase from my shop, know that you're supporting a real human trying her damnedest to build a better world...not some faceless company conglomerate that cuts corners and won't pay their workers what they deserve (or said e-commerce crew that dropships overseas junk and has AI bots doing their customer service).

Know that when you support my small business, you're not just helping me spend more time on art and healing work. You're helping me put more money back into my community. You're helping me support other small businesses, mutual aid initiatives, and community projects. You're helping fund my garden and ones nearby — I love to collect seeds and I love to share them — and possibly even future education (no spoilers though, it's a surprise).

See, I'm not the kind of business owner who's just going to take your money and spend it at Amazon, Walmart, or Target. I support other artists and change-makers who I believe in, knowing that will continue the cycle of good vital to our collective journey — some regenerative thinking in action!

I am constantly reflecting and refining. I've pared down a lot of my offerings lately, realizing many of them were not in alignment. Awareness, reflection, and course-correction are so important to me in my personal life journey; of course these values must be mirrored in my business, too! I'm learning as I go.

I just wanted you to know the kind of person who runs this business. I'm a one-woman show doing her best to run an ethical business under late-stage capitalism. Maybe if more businesses did that we wouldn't be in a such a hot mess of a timeline. Anyway, thanks for bearing witness to my journey. 💖
