from the founder
🌊 Hi, I'm Anita ✨
I created This Little Universe (TLU) to hold all the complexities I am called to bring forth into this world — offerings from heart & soul.
The Art
I'm a visionary artist who loves to experiment and expand 💖 Mostly painting & writing these days.
& The Wellness
I'm a breathwork facilitator with a background in data science and health research. I help people get out of their heads and back in their bodies.

I have collected many "professional" titles throughout my journey in this Earth Game: data scientist, biostatistician, statistical geneticist, research analyst. And certainly, I am a scientist — after nearly a decade of mining data, testing hypotheses, and contributing to various scientific endeavors, I'd better be — though it took me years to allow myself to claim that label.
Similarly, and strangely, for years I also did not allow myself to claim the title of "artist." I had snuffed out any far-fetched dreams of art school, you see, instead deciding my love of numbers was far more marketable and safe. So, as I watched my braver peers follow their creative dreams, the title of "artist" felt like something I hadn't earned, like a dress that didn't fit. I wish I'd realized sooner that I was always an artist, even when I wasn't creating art. And I am very much still a scientist, just an integrated one.
I spent a long time away from my art — over a decade. Though I have been artistic since early childhood, I found myself taking the "practical path" upon which I almost entirely lost touch with my creativity. I was unconscious, on autopilot running a script that was never meant for me, and I almost stayed in that timeline forever. When a manic episode in 2019 illuminated how out of alignment I was, the healing journey I've been on my whole life got some real momentum. I began stoking the spark of creativity that came with said episode into a flame. I started with pour paintings and craft kits, sought out teachers and did Youtube tutorials, until I finally started creating original visionary art painting compositions in 2024.
As a multimedia artist, I love exploring different forms of expression. My background as a scientist and biostatistician elevates my art through my attention to detail, methodical processes, and deep love of experimentation. These days I primarily work in acrylic and oil, though I also love creating with pencil, clay, gouache, photography, and fiber. You'll even find me weaving baskets! I'm also a writer, musician, and breathwork facilitator.
This site will eventually feature offerings from more my favorite creative outlets. 🐉 In a society where we are encouraged to "find our niche" and squish ourselves into some stifling nook or cranny in the global assembly line, I (somewhat willfully) choose to pursue what it means to be fully in touch with my messy and beautiful humanity. I believe it's part of my mission to help others do that too.
And so, I choose to create. My art, breathwork sessions, writing, and music all share a common thread: to help us remember that we are, and have always been, deeply connected to the land, the spirits, and to each other.
I truly appreciate your support from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for being here 🫶💖
with much love — anita ✨
Why This Little Universe?
Simply put, a universe exists inside each of us. We're complex, beautiful, messy, and real. We aren't meant to fit neatly into a box, or distill our range of talents into a single niche.
I love the idea of the multiverse — the notion that our own universe, as grand, vast, and incomprehensible as it may seem, may well be another tiny universe nestled within an infinite network of universes. One tiny fractal among — well — infinity.
As a polymath and creatrix, I wanted the name of my business to reflect the diverse range of products and services you're sure to find over the years. My scientific background makes me a better artist, and vice-versa. My writing inspires my art; I often watch scenes play out in my head as my brush glides across the canvas.
I often wish I could map out the neural connections that have formed throughout my brain, connecting constellations between basket weaving and latch-hooking, pottery and woodworking. As I apply my diverse collection of knowledge across mediums and disciplines, the network becomes stronger, a multidimensional network greater than the sum of its parts.
If we are each a little universe of our own, then this is mine. Nice to have you here 💗
